Melanie is Rees Jones’ Managing Partner and the leader of EEA division. She began her career as a lawyer at Rees R & Sydney Jones in 2006, became a Partner of the firm in 2010, and in 2020 became the first female Managing Partner of the Firm.
Often described by her clients as a “straight shooter”, Melanie takes great pride in representing the hardworking and resilient landowners in the CQ region. She particularly enjoys staying ahead of new markets in the sector including carbon agreements, environmental law and access agreements.
She is also passionate about contributing to the local community through fundraising efforts for drought-affected rural families, and as Secretary of Capricornia Catchments Inc. and a Director of the Fitzroy Basin Association.
When Melanie isn’t working she is spending time with her two young children or indulging her love of sport.
